Thames Valley Police have alerted the parish council to the spate of thefts in West Oxfordshire villages. The thefts are mainly attempted or carried out overnight targeting tools and equipment, vehicles and property.
They are keen to pass on the following advice:
Car and van keys, where possible please keep them in a metal box in the central part of your house, or use a special faraday pouch or signal blocker (which easily available online).
Tools and equipment, this is by far the most common target especially tools left in vans overnight. Don’t leave any expensive equipment in your van or car.
Outhouse buildings such as sheds and workshops should be properly locked and secured. Invest in internal and/or external CCTV which can be monitored via a mobile if you can.
TVP are happy to offer security advice for any property. They cannot recommend any specific brands but they can advise on what would be suitable.
