PARISH COUNCIL NEWS – FEBRUARY 2026

PARISH COUNCIL NEWS  –  POTHOLES

The Parish Council did not meet in February so there is no meeting report.  However, councillors were much concerned about the growing number of deep potholes in our local roads.  In particular, like many villagers, we were disturbed by the lack of response by the county council to the deep pothole on the Glympton road near the junction with Castle road, as well as those on Stratfield lane.
Despite the Glympton road problem being reported almost immediately
on fixmystreet/oxfordshire no action was taken.  Thank you to those who put the cone in the hole to warn drivers (and those who put it back when it got moved) as well as those who did report it.  While alerting local residents to problems on WhatsApp is helpful, there is no need to appeal for someone else to report it.  Checking and reporting on fixmystreet is really easy and much quicker.  In end parish councillors went to our local county councillor for help and he raised it immediately with the appropriate officers. It is
now marked for repair. We keep pressing the county council for action, especially on the dangerous holes. If you see a new one do please put it on fixmystreet/oxfordshire as soon as you can.

NEW WOODSTOCK SURGERY UPDATE

The Owen Mumford site in Woodstock has been selected by the Woodstock Surgery Steering Group as the best option available.

A survey of the site has been completed and this confirms that the building could physically accommodate a new surgery. Outline surgery plans have been drawn up which are currently being approved by the GPs. The timeline for converting the Owen Mumford site is more certain and faster than that of the other sites.

If progress is maintained, planning permission should be possible by late 2026 and the new surgery could be opened by the end of 2028 – or even earlier!
